What To Expect
Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical component development and qualification activities at suppliers. The job involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions to execute supplier industrialization, and on-the-spot critical decision making. The goal: delivering on time quantities of high quality component parts into Tesla’s production processes to enable extremely rapid development cycles and product launches. This role is specifically focused on supporting prototype and production builds for Optimus with the industrialization of components from metal transformation processes such as Casting, Forging, and Metal Injection Molding. This role will be supporting the designers in identifying the appropriate mass manufacturing technologies for production as well as prototype parts.

What You'll Do

Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla’s pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class qualityPlan, organize, direct and conduct industrialization related activities within the supply chain team, especially as it relates to rapid prototyping and Metal Injection Molding technologyIdentify, develop, manage, audit, improve and correct supplier planning and execution of component manufacturing, assembly techniques, and quality control processes from the prototyping as well as advanced development phase to mass production qualificationCollaborate with Tesla Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to guide the design and product requirementsAccountable for leading, tracking and improving supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changesGuide suppliers in developing exceptionally robust processes and procedures to promote efficient and seamless production of high-quality products for both prototyping and high volumeValidate supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes to ensure they are robust, sustainable, and implemented for similar potential concerns across manufacturing lines and/or suppliers

What You'll Bring

Degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or evidence of exceptional ability, or equivalent experience2+ years of experience in supporting prototyping parts development with supplier partners for Castings and Metal Injection Molding, aerospace and medical device industries preferredKnowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspectionAbility to define and execute a project using project management techniquesAbility to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment with excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers and other functional areasStrong technical writing ability and an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain mannerAn average of 30 - 40% travel, possibly on short notice

Expected Compensation

$85,760 - $197,160/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
