Job Description

The Rigger Service Technician is a skilled and essential member of our team responsible for rigging and maintaining various types of boats and watercraft. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety and performance of boats for our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Rigging: Rig boats by installing and configuring various components, including rigging lines, sails, masts, and rigging hardware.
  • Inspect and Maintain: Inspect and maintain boat rigging components to ensure they are in optimal condition and make necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Tuning: Perform rig tuning to optimize boat performance, including adjusting mast rake, tensioning rigging lines, and setting sail controls.
  • Sail Handling: Assist in handling and hoisting sails, securing them, and ensuring they are properly trimmed.
  • Rigging Upgrades: Install, modify, or upgrade rigging systems to meet customer specifications or performance requirements.
  • Safety Checks: Conduct safety checks on rigging equipment, ensuring that all safety standards and protocols are met.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of rigging work performed, inspections, and parts used.
  • Customer Consultation: Communicate with customers regarding rigging needs, recommendations, and cost estimates.
  • Repairs: Perform minor boat repairs, such as fiberglass work or hardware replacement, as needed.
  • Safety Precautions: Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of rigging materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other service technicians and boat specialists to ensure comprehensive boat servicing.
  • Customer Instruction: Provide customers with instructions and guidance on rigging adjustments and maintenance.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to boat maintenance and waste disposal.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations, such as boat rescues or towing, when required.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all rigging work meets high-quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on rigging techniques, materials, and industry trends through training and self-study.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in rigging or marine systems is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in boat rigging, sailing, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of boat rigging components, sailing hardware, and sailing terminology.
  • Technical proficiency and mechanical aptitude for boat rigging and repairs.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy boat rigging components.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Safety-conscious mindset and knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ethical and values-driven approach to boat maintenance and customer interactions.

Position Type:

This is a full-time position with regular business hours, but flexibility may be required based on seasonal demand and boat servicing needs.
