Somerville Public Schools is seeking in-person interpreters on a part-time as-needed basis for the school year. This position supports communication between SPS staff and families whose primary language is Spanish Portuguese or Arabic . This is a contracted non-bargaining non-benefit position based on the interpretation needs of Somerville Public Schools (SPS). Work is intermittent and scheduled upon request.

Job Goal: Facilitate communication between Somerville Public Schools parents/guardians and school staff through interpretation services. This role is essential in bridging language and cultural barriers to ensure families are fully able to participate in their childrens education.

Work is assigned based on the interpreting needs of SPS and scheduled as needed.
Rate of Pay: $30.00 per hour for consecutive interpretation; $60.00 per hour for simultaneous interpretation.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by the Coordinator of the Multilingual Services Office and feedback from SPS staff across schools and departments.
